THE BRIGHT-RED GERANIUM WALTZ written and performed by Geoffrey Ursell
When I was a young kid in Moose Jaw We went to my grandparent's house There I played games with all of my cousins And we would go running about
My grandma had a big sunporch Where she kept all of he flowers The whole porch was filled up with bright red geraniums And we played there when it showered
Back in the front room my grandma Would rock in her big rocking chair And right beside her was happy old grandpa Just blowin' pipe smoke through the air
Aunt Anne would play the piano With Kenny on old saucepan drums We used to dance in the sunporch The bright-red geranium waltz Round and around in the sunporch The bright-red geranium waltz
Then when the showers were over We'd go run out in the yard And help gather eggs from the silly old chickens Or jump on sweet hay in the barn
And on the way home after supper We'd fall asleep in the car And as we drove on we'd dream about dancing The bright-red geranium waltz Whirling and twirling in sunshine and flowers The bright-red geranium waltz
Now when I see a geranium I think of those days in the past Those hours we danced in the sunshine and flowers We didn't know they'd go so fast
But now I go sit on our sunporch And start to play my guitar And our kids appear and they're happy and laughing To dance the geranium waltz
And they go whirling and twirling about Covered in sunshine and smelling the flowers And oh, what a pleasure to see them all dancing The bright-red geranium (please keep on playing) The bright-red geranium (oh don't stop playing) The bright-red geranium waltz, waltz, waltz, waltz
