INTRODUCTION
Connie Kaldor has been entertaining her Canadian homeland for over
25 years with her unique brand of folk music.
That’s not to peg her as a typical “folk singer”, as she’s been
known to run the gambit of song styles from choral to gospel to cabaret.
Her humor has also found its way into some of her songs. From her conversation with herself at the beginning of
“Play Me Something Sentimental” on One of These Days, to her “liar
liar, pants on fire” refrain on Love Is A Truck’s “Liar”, Kaldor
has found time to have some fun with her music.
While she’s most established in her native Canada, she’s enjoyed
success playing here in the U.S., as well as overseas.
In fact, she gives concerts quite often in America, sometimes because
some of the northern states are close to her current home of Montreal, and can
return to be with her husband and two sons the same night.
Now that’s family devotion!
So why a U.S. fan site? Well,
first of all, there wasn’t any before – none that I was aware of at least.
Why did I decide to create this site?
Read "A Folk Odyssey" for the gin on that.
But in a nutshell, I hope I can spread the joy and entertainment that
Connie Kaldor brings into a pop culture saturated with bland sounds from
corporate-produced boy bands and teenage hookers masquerading as musicians.
This is “Pete’s U.S. Web Site”, but it’s open to everyone,
everywhere. I’m a fan, but still
a relatively new fan, so I’m sure there’s more I can learn from you out
there. If there’s something that
I’ve omitted or printed erroneously, don’t hesitate to post a message in the
Small Café Message Board
or contact the Webmaster. So whether a fan or a novice, I hope you’ll find something here that you’ll like.
