INTRODUCTION

Connie Kaldor has been entertaining her Canadian homeland for over 25 years with her unique brand of folk music.  That’s not to peg her as a typical “folk singer”, as she’s been known to run the gambit of song styles from choral to gospel to cabaret.

But music is only part of the Connie Kaldor experience.  Anyone who has attended her concerts will attest to the fact her stage presence also contributes to her staying power.  Once she gets going on a stream of consciousness, there’s no stopping her, and the audience can’t  help but come along for the ride.  Connie Kaldor the entertainer injects energy, enthusiasm and humor into her shows that would be worth the price of admission alone, but her music of simple yet pleasing melodies and heartfelt lyrics creates the perfect compliment.

Her humor has also found its way into some of her songs.  From her conversation with herself at the beginning of “Play Me Something Sentimental” on One of These Days, to her “liar liar, pants on fire” refrain on Love Is A Truck’s “Liar”, Kaldor has found time to have some fun with her music.

While she’s most established in her native Canada, she’s enjoyed success playing here in the U.S., as well as overseas.  In fact, she gives concerts quite often in America, sometimes because some of the northern states are close to her current home of Montreal, and can return to be with her husband and two sons the same night.  Now that’s family devotion!

So why a U.S. fan site?  Well, first of all, there wasn’t any before – none that I was aware of at least.  Why did I decide to create this site?  Read "A Folk Odyssey" for the gin on that.  But in a nutshell, I hope I can spread the joy and entertainment that Connie Kaldor brings into a pop culture saturated with bland sounds from corporate-produced boy bands and teenage hookers masquerading as musicians.

This is “Pete’s U.S. Web Site”, but it’s open to everyone, everywhere.  I’m a fan, but still a relatively new fan, so I’m sure there’s more I can learn from you out there.  If there’s something that I’ve omitted or printed erroneously, don’t hesitate to post a message in the Small Café Message Board or contact the Webmaster.

So whether a fan or a novice, I hope you’ll find something here that you’ll like.
