PETIT ENFANT traditional (Egypt); arranged by Paul, Michelle and Suzannne Campagne performed in Arabic by Sylvia Balassanian
Unfortunately, I don't have the Arabic lyrics to this intriguing and, ironically, haunting tune considering the singer tells her child not to be afraid of nightmares. In lieu of that, here are the French and English translations:*
LYRICS (French translation)
Les rêves nourrissent la tendresse Ne crains rien ma colombe Je dissiperai tes peurs Oublie les monstres Ne crains rien ma poupée Je me moquerai d'eux pour les chasser Silence mon coeur J'égorgerai ces fantômes Ne crains rien mon trésor Je me moquerai d'eux et ils se tairont
LYRICS (English translation)
Dream my child You musn't be frightened I'll dispel all your fears Forget those little monsters Let me laugh at them until they run away I'll cut their throats, those little ghosts Don't worry my little doll Don't worry my little dove I'll laugh at them to keep them quiet
